Haunted Station
Your arm aches from holding your case all this time, so you set it down and wander back and forth, back and forth. You pause. Was that an announcement? No. You wander some more. You read the board and study the faces pinned next to it. Then you watch the clock because there is nothing else to do. Tick… tock. There is another case beside yours now. Tick… tock. You rub your hands together as the cold slips under your coat. The rails begin to hum. Very softly. Then stop.

Haunted School
The rules come back easily when you look through the gates. Mind the lines. Wait your turn. If the rope stops, start again. Stand too still, and someone else goes first. One, two, three…all the way to ten. But some rules you only learn when the last bell chimes. Don’t look back before you reach the gate. Don’t be the last one left in the yard. That square is safe. The seesaw doesn’t always move like that. And sometimes it’s best to start again from one. Ready whenever you are.

Haunted Pub
Rain has followed you for miles, turning the narrow road to mud and swallowing the hills behind you one by one. Then, at last, a weathered pub glows against the gathering dark. You step closer, boots sinking into the sodden ground, and wonder why everything behind you has fallen so quiet. Never mind. The door is open. The fire is crackling. And the dry seat by that window is exactly what you need. No one looks up when you enter. They all keep their eyes on the door until it closes behind you.
